About the group

This East Bay Young Men's Group is an interpersonal psychotherapy process group available to all people under 40 years old who identify as men, including trans men.

Why group?

Young men are facing many challenges that previous generations haven't had to deal with. Career and economic forces are less clear and certain. Isolation from one another has been exacerbated by technology. Community bonds and friendship aren't a given for many men.

By coming together, in person, men can practice being in community and relationship, receiving connection, and supporting one another through honest feedback. Engaging fully in group can help transform life outside of group.

What might come up in group?

Problems in intimate relationships at all stages, whether it's bachelorhood, dating, marriage, or other ways of being in relationship.

Uncertainty and doubt causing difficulty with settling into or breaking out of current lifepath and/or career

Changing friendship dynamics as peers take on adult responsibilities and goals

The overwhelm and difficulty of emotions such as stress, anger, anxiety, or depression.

About the Therapist

The group is run by David Heliotis, LPCC. David studied group psychotherapy in The Psychotherapy Institute's year-long Group Therapy Training Program. He has also been trained in mindfulness and somatic (body-oriented) approaches to therapy. Alongside interpersonal process, he may use mindfulness and awareness of the body to support group members in recognizing and experiencing emotion more fully.

Challenges are easier when we work together.
